🛒 Ingredients

For the Garlic Toast Base

  • 2 slices French bread or Texas toast (thick-cut recommended)

  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

  • Pinch of salt + pepper

For the Steak Topping

  • 3 cups cooked steak, sliced thin

    • (leftover steak, frozen steak strips, or shaved ribeye all work)

  • 1/3 cup sliced mushrooms

  • 8–10 thin slices green bell pepper

  • 1/4 cup sliced onion

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • Salt + pepper to taste

For the Cheese Layer

  • 1 to 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella, provolone, or Swiss

  • Optional: 2 tbsp grated Parmesan for extra melt + flavor

Instructions

1. Prepare the Garlic Toast (5 minutes)

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Mix softened butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt/pepper in a small bowl.

  3. Spread generously over both sides of the bread slices.

  4. Place sliced bread on a baking sheet and toast in oven 5–7 minutes, until lightly golden but not fully crispy.

    • This prevents the bread from becoming soggy when topped.

2. Cook the Veggies (5 minutes)

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.

  2. Add the onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers.

  3. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant.

  4. Season lightly with salt & pepper.

3. Warm the Steak (2 minutes)

  1. Add sliced cooked steak to the pan with vegetables.

  2. Toss everything together for 1–2 minutes to heat through.

  3. Remove from heat.

Tip: If using raw shaved steak, cook it 3–4 minutes first, then add veggies.

4. Assemble the Toast (3 minutes)
