Introduction:
When the weather outside is cold and the day is calling for blankets, movies, and cozy snacks, this
Snow Day Snack Mix is the perfect treat to make. It’s crunchy, sweet, salty, and loaded with fun wintery
textures—think cereal and pretzels coated in creamy white chocolate, dotted with mini marshmallows, and finished with
snowflake sprinkles for that “holiday magic” look.
The best part is how easy it is. No baking, no fancy equipment, and no waiting hours for dough to chill. You melt,
mix, coat, and let it set. Kids can help with stirring and sprinkling (and taste-testing, of course).
It’s also a fantastic make-ahead snack for snow-day playdates, school parties, or weekend movie marathons.
This recipe is very flexible. You can make it more “holiday” with peppermint, more “classic” with peanut butter chips,
or even more “snowy” by adding powdered sugar for a muddy-buddy style finish. Once you learn the base, you can customize
it endlessly.
Ingredients:
Base mix (choose your crunch):
- 4 cups Chex cereal (rice or corn)
- 2 cups mini pretzels (twists or sticks)
- 2 cups popcorn (plain, fully cooled) or extra cereal
- 1 cup salted peanuts or almonds (optional)
Snowy add-ins:
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 cup white chocolate chips or white melting wafers
- 2 tbsp coconut oil (optional, helps chocolate melt smoother)
Fun extras (pick 2–3):

- Optional: 1/2 tsp peppermint extract (for a cool winter flavor)
- Optional: 1/2 cup powdered sugar (muddy-buddy style)
Instructions:
