1. Make the Cookie Dough

In a medium bowl, whisk together: flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

Add the dry ingredients and mix just until combined — do not overmix.

Chill dough 15–20 minutes (optional but helps shape and texture).
