Dry Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt
Wet Ingredients

2 large eggs
-
½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)

½ cup whole milk
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
Finishing Touch

½ cup boiling water (YES — this is the secret to that shiny crackly top!)

1️⃣ Preheat & Prep

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease a loaf pan or line it with foil (as in your photo).
2️⃣ Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together:
✔ flour
✔ sugar
✔ cocoa
✔ baking powder
✔ baking soda
✔ salt
Make sure there are no lumps, especially in the cocoa.
3️⃣ Add Wet Ingredients
Add:
✔ eggs
✔ oil or melted butter
✔ milk
✔ vanilla
Mix until just combined — no overmixing!
