  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 jar (24 oz / 680 g) marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce

  • 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) crushed tomatoes (optional for extra sauce)

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Pasta

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti noodles

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt for boiling water

Cheese Layers

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup parmesan cheese

  • Optional: 1 cup provolone or Monterey Jack for extra melt

👨‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1 — Cook the Spaghetti

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

  2. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente (usually 8–10 minutes).

  3. Drain, toss with a drizzle of olive oil, and set aside.

Step 2 — Make the Meat Sauce

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.

  2. Drain excess fat.

  3. Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until soft.

  4. Add garlic and stir 30 seconds.

  5. Pour in marinara sauce and crushed tomatoes.

  6. Add oregano, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sugar.

  7. Simmer 10–15 minutes until thickened.

This rich, saucy base is what makes the spaghetti extra flavorful.
