Southern-Style Meatloaf Recipe


Creamy Mashed Potatoes (with skins)

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs red potatoes, cut into chunks (skins on)

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • ½ cup whole milk or cream

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 15–20 mins).

  2. Drain and mash with butter and milk until creamy but chunky.

  3. Season with salt and pepper. Add more milk for desired texture.


Classic Deviled Eggs

Ingredients:

  • 4 boiled eggs, peeled and halved

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

  • Salt, pepper, and paprika to taste

Instructions:

  1. Scoop yolks into a bowl, mash with mayo and mustard.

  2. Add salt and pepper. Spoon or pipe filling into egg whites.

  3. Sprinkle with paprika.


Southern-Style Green Beans & Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 1 can cut green beans (or 1 lb fresh)

  • 1 small potato, diced

  • 2 slices bacon or ham hock (optional)

  • ½ onion, chopped

  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a pot, sauté onion and bacon until soft.

  2. Add green beans, potatoes, and enough water to cover.

  3. Season and simmer for 20–25 minutes until potatoes are tender.


Fluffy Southern Biscuits

You can use canned biscuits for convenience, or try this homemade version:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed

  • ¾ cup cold milk or buttermilk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

  2. Mix dry ingredients, cut in butter until crumbly.

  3. Stir in milk, turn onto floured surface, knead gently.

  4. Cut biscuits, place on baking sheet, and bake 12–15 mins.


Sweet Iced Tea

Ingredients:

  • 3 black tea bags

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 6 cups water

Instructions:

  1. Boil 3 cups water, steep tea bags 5–10 mins.

  2. Remove bags, stir in sugar until dissolved.

  3. Add remaining cold water and refrigerate.

  4. Serve over ice with lemon if desired.


️ Put it all together:

Serve two thick slices of meatloaf with a scoop of mashed potatoes, a spoonful of green beans and potatoes, two deviled eggs, one biscuit, and a glass of iced tea. Comfort food at its finest!
