How to Use Vinegar in Laundry

For Soft Towels & Perfectly White Clothes

✨ Why It Works:

White vinegar is a natural fabric softener and deodorizer. It breaks down detergent and fabric softener residue, removes musty smells, and brightens whites — all without harsh chemicals.


What You Need:

  • Distilled white vinegar (not apple cider vinegar)

  • Your regular laundry detergent

  • Washing machine (top or front load)


For Soft Towels:

  1. Load Towels into the Washer

    • Wash only towels (no mixed fabrics for this routine).

  2. Add ½ to 1 cup of white vinegar

    • Pour directly into the fabric softener compartment or during the rinse cycle if your machine doesn’t have one.

  3. Skip fabric softener!

    • It builds up on towels and makes them stiff over time.

  4. Use hot water (if safe for your fabric)

    • Hot water helps break down buildup and bacteria.

  5. Dry completely in the dryer or sun-dry with wool dryer balls for extra softness.


For Whiter Laundry:

  1. Add ½ to 1 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle or softener compartment.
