Grandma’s Classic Coconut Cream Pie Dip

Grandma’s Classic Coconut Cream Pie Dip is a fluffy, no‑bake dessert dip that tastes like a slice of old‑fashioned coconut cream pie in every spoonful. It is perfect for potlucks, holidays, and game days because you can stir it together in minutes and serve it with cookies, fruit, or graham crackers.

Ingredients for Grandma’s Classic Coconut Cream Pie Dip

  • 1 package (3–3.4 oz) instant coconut cream pudding mix

  • 1 1/2 cups cold whole milk

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature

  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted

  • 8 oz whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), thawed, or 3 cups lightly sweetened whipped cream

  • 3/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut, plus extra for toasting on top

  • 1 tsp vanilla or coconut extract

  • Pinch of salt

For serving: graham crackers, vanilla wafers, shortbread cookies, pretzels, or fresh fruit like pineapple and strawberries.

Step 1: Toast the Coconut

  1. Heat oven to 325–350°F (165–175°C).

  2. Spread 1/2–3/4 cup shredded coconut in an even layer on a baking sheet.

  3. Toast 5–10 minutes, stirring every few minutes, until golden brown and fragrant, then cool completely.

Toasted coconut adds crunch and a nostalgic “pie” flavor that makes this dip taste like grandma’s coconut cream pie.

Step 2: Make the Coconut Pudding Base

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the instant coconut cream pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and starting to thicken, about 2 minutes.

  2. Let the mixture sit for 3–5 minutes so it can fully set into a soft pudding.

This pudding layer gives the dip its classic custardy coconut cream flavor without any stovetop cooking.

Step 3: Whip the Cream Cheese Mixture

  1. In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until completely smooth and fluffy.

  2. Add powdered sugar, vanilla or coconut extract, and a pinch of salt; beat again until creamy and well combined.

  3. Gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is light, smooth, and airy.

Room‑temperature cream cheese prevents lumps and keeps the dip extra silky.

Step 4: Fold Everything Together
