Introduction:
If you’re looking for a holiday bread that feels special but still fits into real-life schedules, these
Stuffed Spinach Cheddar Holiday Rolls are the answer. Picture soft, golden dinner rolls with a tender crumb,
filled with a savory spinach-and-cheddar center that melts into creamy, cheesy goodness as they bake. They’re warm, rich,
and unbelievably comforting—exactly what you want on a festive table.
These rolls are perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, brunch spreads, potlucks, or any cozy gathering. They’re
also a clever way to add a little green to a bread basket (without anyone complaining). Serve them alongside roasted meats,
soups, casseroles, or even as a standalone snack with a bowl of marinara or garlic butter for dipping. The best part?
You can make them ahead, freeze them, and reheat them with that fresh-baked aroma that makes the whole house feel like a holiday.
Ingredients:
For the dough (soft roll base):
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (or honey)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)
For the spinach cheddar filling:
- 2 cups spinach (fresh) OR 1 cup frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed very dry
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Pinch of salt (taste first—cheddar can be salty)
- Optional: 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
Optional toppings (holiday-level finish):
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (egg wash)
- 1–2 tbsp melted butter mixed with parsley
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan
- Flaky salt (a tiny pinch on top)
Instructions:
- Activate the yeast.
In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
(If it doesn’t foam, your yeast may be inactive or the milk was too hot/cold.) - Mix the dough.
