2 cups semi‑sweet chocolate chips or chunks (plus extra for the top)

Step 1: Prep the Pan

Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Line a 9×13‑inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the long sides, and lightly grease.
Lining the pan makes it easy to lift out the bars and cut clean squares.
Step 2: Make the Cookie Bar Dough

In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy.

Whisk in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
