“A holiday must-have — only 3 ingredients! I make it all season because it’s just that simple.”
This dish is creamy, comforting, golden on top, and unbelievably easy. It’s the kind of recipe you make once… and suddenly everyone asks for it again and again.
⭐ Ingredients (Only 3!)
-
6–7 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
-
2 cups heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter version)
-
2 cups shredded cheese (Gruyère, cheddar, or mozzarella — your choice)
Optional (but amazing):
-
Salt & black pepper
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prep the Potatoes
-
Peel (optional) and slice potatoes very thinly — about ⅛ inch thick.
-
A mandolin makes this super easy.
2. Build the Casserole
In a greased baking dish:
-
Add a layer of potatoes.
-
Sprinkle a handful of shredded cheese.
-
Pour a splash of heavy cream over.
-
Season lightly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using.
Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
3. Bake Until Golden
-
Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes.
-
Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes, until the top is beautifully golden and bubbly.
4. Serve
Let it rest 10 minutes before serving — this helps it thicken.
Garnish with fresh herbs if you like.
