🔥 INSTRUCTIONS
1️⃣ Preheat Oven
Heat oven to 450°F (232°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment OR lightly grease a baking dish (like in the photo).
2️⃣ Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together:
-
Flour
-
Baking powder
-
Salt
-
Sugar
3️⃣ Cut in the Butter
Add cold butter cubes to the flour.
Use a pastry cutter, fork, or fingertips to work butter into the flour until you get coarse crumbs.
(You want little cold butter pieces — this creates flaky layers!)
4️⃣ Add Buttermilk
Pour in the cold buttermilk.
Mix gently with a spoon until dough just comes together.
Do NOT overmix — it makes biscuits dense.
If too dry, add 1–2 tbsp more buttermilk.
5️⃣ Turn Out and Fold
Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface.
Gently pat into a rectangle, then fold in half.
Repeat 3–4 times — this creates layers and a taller rise.
Pat the dough to 1-inch thick.
6️⃣ Cut Biscuits
Use a round cutter or glass dipped in flour.
Press straight down (don’t twist — twisting seals the edges).
biscuits close together in a pan if you want them soft,
or spaced apart on a tray for crispier sides.
7️⃣ Bake
Bake 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush tops with melted butter immediately after baking.
